The Firstcall Recruitment team is back for another round of Movember, and we’re ready to get moving for men’s health!
Movember is all about raising awareness and funds for men’s health — tackling mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.
While the iconic moustache will always be part of the fun, we’ve once again chosen to focus on Move for Mental Health, encouraging everyone to get active, start conversations, and look out for one another.
This year, each of our team members has picked their own challenge — and there’s plenty of sweat, smiles, and good energy to go around!
For JOSIAH, Movember has a deeply personal meaning.
He explains, “Over a decade ago, I lost a close friend to suicide, and ever since I’ve been passionate about raising awareness around mental health — especially for men, who often suffer in silence.”
To honour his friend’s memory and keep the conversation going, Josiah is challenging himself to complete 3,000 push-ups throughout the month. He says, “It’s my way of sparking conversations, remembering my friend, and doing my part to support the movement for better mental health.”
MARCEL is also embracing the challenge with his trademark enthusiasm! Every November, he says, brings “energy and unity,” and for him, Movember is “more than moustaches — it’s about connection, positivity, and showing up for one another.”
This year, he’s committing to a 100-rep-a-day challenge as part of Move for Movember.
“Whether it’s push-ups, squats, or burpees, the goal is simple: keep moving, stay consistent, and raise awareness for men’s health. What I love most is how Movember brings us together as a team — everyone doing their bit in their own way. Many hands make light work, and every effort counts.”
KATE is once again taking to her home rowing machine, with a goal of rowing 15 hours over the month. Having worked with various charities over the years, she’s seen firsthand how activity can make a real difference.
“I’ve seen how physical activity can have a hugely positive impact on mental health,” she says.
“Plus, if you are finding it tough do try to reach out for help or – if you notice someone struggling, – make sure you check in and offer support.”
Kate points to one of Movember’s great resources — the ALEC model, developed by R U OK? — which provides a simple framework for having meaningful conversations about mental health.
“Movember has some amazing tools to help guide those chats and the ALEC model is a great place to start!”

For DAMIAN, this year’s challenge is all about keeping momentum and staying grounded.
“During Covid, like many others, I experienced depression and loss,” he shares, “and it really showed me how important open, positive conversations about mental health are.”
Following his success in Sober October, Damian is dedicating 15 minutes each day in November to squats, push-ups, and sit-ups — keeping body and mind in sync. “I’m lucky to have such a supportive team doing this alongside me,” he adds.
We’ll be sharing updates, photos, and plenty of encouragement throughout the month — so keep an eye on our social pages to see how everyone’s getting on!
