At Firstcall, we’re proud to once again support the Le Cheminant Cups at L’Ancresse Golf Club, one of the most popular events in the local golfing calendar.
For me personally, this sponsorship carries special significance. As an active member of the club, I’ve seen first-hand the important role that sponsors play in helping bring the golf season to life.
Events such as the Le Cheminant Cups rely on the support of local businesses, and having built many friendships through golf over the years, it felt natural to support a club and community that have given me so much enjoyment.
Golf has become a huge part of my life. Beyond the competition, it offers a chance to switch off from the demands of everyday life, spend time outdoors, stay active, and connect with people of all ages through a shared interest. It is a sport that constantly challenges you, teaches patience and resilience, and creates friendships that often last a lifetime.
In many ways, sponsoring the Le Cheminant Cups has provided the first genuine opportunity to bridge my personal connection with L’Ancresse and my professional role at Firstcall. As a business built on relationships, it’s important to us to remain visible and engaged within the local community, and there are few better ways to do that than by supporting activities that people genuinely care about.

A Fantastic Day at L’Ancresse
I was joined by eight guests on the day, creating three groups of three made up of both returning attendees and new faces.
One of the most rewarding aspects of hosting the day is seeing the enthusiasm our guests have for the event. For some, busy schedules mean opportunities to play golf can be limited throughout the year, so occasions like this allow them to dust off the clubs, enjoy a round with friends, and spend quality time outdoors.
We were certainly helped by the weather. Anyone who played last year’s event will remember battling through wet and windy conditions, so there was plenty of laughter when we reflected on those memories while enjoying this year’s warm sunshine and gentle breeze. At times, it felt more like a golfing holiday than a day on the L’Ancresse Links.
The scoring was closely contested, with many of our guests finishing within a similar points range. However, one player managed to edge ahead of the field.
Congratulations to Jonathan, who claimed the Firstcall Guest Winner prize with an impressive 38 points. His playing partners were full of praise for his smooth swing and exceptional fairway accuracy throughout the round, both of which contributed to a well-deserved victory.
We look forward to welcoming Jonathan to the Firstcall office to collect his prize.
Supporting the Community Through Sport
Sport remains a vital part of island life, particularly during the summer months when clubs, teams and competitors come together across Guernsey to participate, support one another and enjoy everything our community has to offer.
Whether it’s golf, football, rugby, cricket or any other local sport, the sense of connection that these activities create is invaluable. We’re delighted to play a small part in supporting that through our sponsorship of the Le Cheminant Cups and would like to thank the club, organisers, volunteers and all competitors for making the event another memorable success.
