I recently had the pleasure of supporting the Guernsey Sixth Form Centre, who invited local recruitment professionals to run one‑to‑one CV feedback sessions with their Year 13 students. It was a brilliant opportunity to meet students at an important crossroads in their lives and offer guidance as they prepare for their next steps.
Across the afternoon, I spoke with a diverse mix of young people—each with their own outlook and their own story. Some were excited about unique or unconventional career paths, others were focused on specialised university degrees, exploring opportunities in finance or planning a gap year before taking their next step.
What truly stood out was the energy they all brought to the conversations. Bright, enthusiastic, and eager to learn, every student I met was personable, engaged, and open to advice. Each discussion offered something new—fresh perspectives, thoughtful questions, and genuine ambition.
It was incredibly rewarding to hear about their dreams and help them shape the way they communicate their strengths through their CVs. Offering an outside perspective felt worthwhile, especially knowing it could support them either immediately or further down the line.
A huge thank‑you to the Sixth Form Centre for having me. It was a privilege to play even a small part in helping these future professionals build confidence as they take the next step in their journey.
