Stepping Into the Future: Our Morning at TGI Delancey Campus

Last week, we had the pleasure of stepping back into school life (cue a little nostalgia!) as we attended the Future Workforce Event at TGI Delancey Campus.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this wasn’t just another careers event — it was a genuinely positive, welcoming space where students could explore ideas, ask questions, and start shaping their next steps with confidence.

Friendly Faces & Meaningful Conversations
We were proud to host a stand throughout the morning, meeting a fantastic mix of students. Some arrived with a clear vision of their future — university plans mapped out and a specific career path firmly in mind. It was incredibly reassuring to see such clarity and passion at an early stage, especially given how often we meet candidates later in their journey who are still figuring things out.

Others were a little more open-minded — studying towards something, but still exploring what might come next. And for us, that’s just as exciting.

One of the key messages we shared is simple: You don’t need to have it all figured out.

In fact, as Sofi highlighted in her workshop, “first jobs rarely define your career — don’t chase money, chase experience and skills.”

Empowering the Next Generation
Alongside our stand, Sofi delivered a workshop titled “A Career Discussion – Stepping into the Workforce.”

The session focused on giving students practical, honest advice — the kind we wish we’d all heard a little earlier:

  • Your career path doesn’t have to be linear
  • Skills are transferable across industries
  • Changing direction is completely normal
  • Employers value attitude, communication, and willingness to learn above all else

We encouraged students to think less about having the “perfect plan” and more about building confidence, curiosity, and resilience — the real foundations of any successful career.

What Employers Are Really Looking For
A big part of our conversations centred around demystifying what employers actually want.

Spoiler alert: it’s not perfection.

It’s things like:

  • Reliability
  • A positive attitude
  • Being a team player
  • Good communication skills
  • A willingness to learn and grow

These are qualities any student can begin developing right now — whether through school, part-time work, sport, or simply showing up with the right mindset.

A Trip Down Memory Lane…
For Marcel and Sofi, the morning also came with plenty of “that used to be us!” moments. Walking the corridors, chatting with teachers, and recognising familiar faces (alongside meeting lots of new ones) definitely brought a sense of nostalgia.

But more than that, it was a reminder of how important these early conversations can be.

Our Takeaway
If there’s one thing we left with, it’s this:

There is no single “right” path — and that’s something young people should feel reassured by, not worried about.

Whether someone has a clear destination in mind or is still exploring options, what matters most is:

  • A willingness to learn
  • A positive, proactive attitude
  • And the confidence to take that first step

Final Thoughts
We’d like to say a big thank you to TGI Delancey Campus for hosting such a well-organised and engaging event — and to all the students who took the time to stop by, ask questions, and share their ambitions with us.

Events like these are a powerful reminder of why we do what we do — connecting great people with great opportunities, and helping individuals take those all-important first steps into the working world.

We’re already looking forward to the next one!
