Underwriter OR Assistant Underwriter (Commercial)

One of our key clients, a leading general insurer is looking for an organised and self-motivated Underwriter or Assistant Underwriter (Commercial) to join their growing team in Jersey OR Guernsey.

This is a pivotal commercial underwriting role focused on SME business—working closely with brokers to underwrite, retain and grow a diverse portfolio across home, motor and commercial risks.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing and underwriting SME cases within agreed authority, processes and risk appetite
• Building strong relationships with brokers to identify, discuss and convert new and existing business
• Supporting the development and performance of the Commercial team and SME proposition
• Maintaining and developing an underwriting/client portfolio, tracking KPIs and supporting colleagues

You should be a confident, engaging communicator with a passion for customer service, who enjoys relationship-building and collaborative team environments. 

This role is open to candidates with full underwriting experience or strong administrative experience looking to develop into underwriting
