Time to reflect

Have you been affected from an employment perspective?

We are under no illusion that COVID-19 is having an impact within the employment market.

Sadly there have been casualties already, with redundancies, inability to proceed with on-boarding and a pause state initiated by many employers.

In light of all that’s going on, it may be leading you to reflect in such a way where you want to take action once this is all over having held off making that all important decision to move roles. Or, maybe you’re actively in the market and needing work at the earliest possible point.

Wherever you sit with this, there are a few things that you could be considering in order to give yourself a running start to suitably arm yourself.

  • A career folder: create a digital and hard copy folder including those key documents such as your right to work / employment permit, copy of passport/photo ID, academic/professional certificates, social security card, CV and references
  • Revamp your CV: it can be easy to neglect your CV but now is a good time to spruce this up and bring it into the 21st century
  • Career planning: take a moment to sit down and think about what you see for yourself in the future and where you’d like to be. Work out your aspirations and what you need to do to achieve them
  • Upskill: visit free online resources, recap on study materials, seek out new information or enrol on a structured distance learning course. Upskilling is an essential part of our tool kit for the future of employment.

Putting these points in motion will see you set for what lies ahead and appropriately organised to act in an efficient and effective manner once things have calmed.

We are on hand for those seeking advice and input all of which we are happy to share to assist you.
