As a child, Damian wanted to be a policeman when he grew up, but he soon discovered that he was too short. He has since grown in both stature and ambition – “I had a late growth spurt”, Damian jokes!
After 20 years running a highly successful childcare business in Manchester, he decided to press the reset button and relocated to Guernsey and, after a short period in hospitality, gained a role with Firstcall.
“Recruitment is a faced paced and dynamic environment!” Damian points out, but he also explains that while there was a steep learning curve, the support he received from the team was fantastic!
“There were never any silly questions – there still isn’t, even 6 months into the role – and Marcel is always happy to offer suggestions about how to solve an issue or problem!”

He continues:

Damian is really enjoying his time in Guernsey; “It’s an amazing place with great culture and lovely people! It is certainly a world away from Manchester!”
And while recruitment is also a world away from what he has done in the past, he believes that “If you put in the hard work there are opportunities for personal development – and obviously there’s the financial benefits too. You get to meet great people and you get the satisfaction of placing people into a team and job you know they will love!”
